May I choose to question rather than conform
For no truth can be
Truthfully trusted at all —
Bound by the laws of rhetoric
To be only the persuasive truth
Of opinion and conjecture
And tradition is written by the
Interpreters of embellishing myth
And painted as attractive landscapes
Of metaphor and meaning
To be dogmatically accepted
To learn is to rebel against tradition
For learning is by provocation only —
An apophasis of all truth
That is based on appearances
And the deceptive ordering of words
To get to the heart of its meaning
And find it to be true or false
Within you as it travels through
All that is, in your experience
