May I choose not to think my thoughts
Thoughts arise of their own volition
By the natural ebb and flow
Of sensations and revived
Memories of sensations
A mind that is threatened by
Forbidden emotions; horrified by
malicious desires; alarmed by
Irrational anger; or mortified by
Contradictions and humiliations
Acts and then condemns itself for
Its condemnable acts
Thoughts propelled by actions and
Actions propelled by thoughts are
Mere transitory epiphenomena
Influenced from within and without
What is needed of you is to
To let nothing go unperceived
To follow the natural ebb and flow
Of jñeyam (ज्ञेयम्), of self-discovery
To meet your fears and desires
Amicably, in maitrī (मैत्री)
To heed their sweet
Or violent importuning
To receive their message
And let them go
